Maco Expo (Manga Cómic Dominicana Expo) is an event that provides young Dominicans the opportunity to print, publish and sell their first comic. Since its creation in 2014, the Maco Expo (created by illustrator Cristian Felix) annually injects new life into the Dominican Comic.
Origin of the Maco Expo
According to its creator, Cristian Felix, the MACO Expo has been taking place more than 6 years. It began in the exhibition hall of the UASD Faculty of Arts in 2014. In 2015 it was held within the framework of the J-fest, while in 2016 it was held again at the UASD. For 2017 he returns to J-fest. In 2018, the Children's and Youth Library of the Dominican Republic opened its doors to the event, noting the positive impact that the same has had on young Dominicans in the past 5 years. Already in 2019 it takes place in the exhibition hall of the arts faculty of the UASD from November 1 to 2.
What is the objective of the MACO Expo?
The people who supported the project when Crisitan Felix presented it were: Leorian Ricardo and Jorge Eduardo Pérez, without a doubt, without their help, this event would continue to be just an idea to be carried out. In turn, the objective of the MACO Expo can be summed up as giving those who want to see their comics printed the opportunity to take their first steps in the medium. We know that printing work is not easy for This is why we try to give a helping hand to young Dominican artists through the MACO Expo.
The idea came from a simple conversation with an old friend. The topic had been discussed before, but on that occasion Moro Studio already existed, so I decided to say: “let's do it!”
